Space Saving Spiral Staircases
One of the main advantages of spiral staircases has always been their ability to function as space saving stairs; by producing stairs in a helical shape all spiral staircases are, by definition space saving to a large extent when compared with traditional non-helical designs. Modern advances in materials has allowed the production of true space saving spiral staircases that feature a very small form factor and take up as little space as possible whilst still being very safe and strong and able to support a large load as you would expect from larger sets of stairs. Space saving spiral staircases have a variety of applications, from use in small buildings where floor space is limited through to connecting up previously unused rooms in your home (attic conversions are often excellent ways to utilise space saving spiral staircases).
Any architect will tell you how important it is to maximise all of the available space in any building, and all things should be considered at the planning stage of a new building or renovation to ensure that everything fits together correctly. Space saving spiral staircases allow you much more flexibility in your home with regards to the laying out of furniture, fixtures and fittings whilst still allowing you to get up and down the stairs with ease. Spiral staircases designed in this manner work hard at saving you room around the home whilst still representing an aesthetic statement in many cases, just because spiral staircases can function as room saving devices does not mean they have to be boring and utilitarian in appearance!
